Muskingum announces Senior Leadership Team for Athletics

Muskingum University Vice President and Athletic Director Steve Brockelbank has announced the formation of a senior leadership team for the Muskingum Athletic Department.

The senior leadership team, composed of four senior administrators, will serve as the department's leaders and provide oversight for the day-to-day operations of Muskie athletics. The senior staff will be comprised of Steve Brockelbank (Vice President and Athletic Director), Kari Winters (Assistant Athletic Director, Senior Women's Administrator, Compliance Director, Head Softball Coach), Tom Caudill (Assistant Athletic Director, Director of Athletics Communication and Marketing, Assistant Professor of Athletics Communication) and Deven Siesel (Director of Athletic and Recreation Operations).

"The new senior leadership structure will strengthen the Muskingum Athletic Department," said Brockelbank. "The combined experience, knowledge, and expertise of the senior leadership team will help elevate the department in all phases of athletic administration."

Since arriving on campus in April of 2018, Brockelbank has made an immediate impact on the Muskingum Athletic Department and the student-athletes. He initiated the first-ever Corporate Sponsorship Program, launched the Muskie Athletic Club, negotiated an agreement with BSN Sports to make Under Armour the official apparel brand of the Fighting Muskies, transformed the annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony to the Night of Impact dinner, announced the addition of esports as Muskingum's 22nd varsity sport, championed efforts to enhance Muskingum's athletic facilities, and is currently helping to direct Muskingum's $30 million Health and Wellness Complex project slated to open in 2022.

Winters, who has served as Muskingum's head softball coach since 2011, has won two Ohio Athletic Conference Championships and is a two-time OAC Coach of the Year honoree. In addition to her coaching responsibilities for the Muskie softball program, Winters will oversee Muskingum's NCAA compliance, the NCAA Sports Sponsorship Report, assist with sport administration, and serve on the Hall of Fame Committee.

Caudill, who is in his 18th year at Muskingum, manages the daily operations of the athletics communication office for Muskingum's 22 sports. He oversees the Muskingum athletic website and social media presence, the corporate partnership program, Muskingum's brand identity, game operations, student engagement and marketing, event streaming, video development, the Golden Hook Awards, the Ohio Athletic Conference, NCAA, and Athletic Department Awards, Muskingum's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, media relations, Athletic Department internships, is a member of the Hall of Fame Committee, and teaches classes in the Athletics Communication and Sport Administration programs.

Siesel, who previously worked in Student Affairs as the Director of Recreational Services, transitioned to the Athletic Department on January 1. He oversees Muskingum's athletic facility operations and schedules, event operations, club sports and intramurals, concession operations, post-season letterwinner awards, the Chess Center, new employee onboarding, graduate assistant housing, Muskingum's NCAA bids, and OAC Tournament planning.
