The Muskingum University Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Taylour Huey '18 as head coach of the volleyball program.

Huey returns to her alma mater, where she previously served as associate head coach and assistant coach for four years. In 2019, Huey helped guide the Muskies to a final ranking of 14th in the AVCA Top 25 Poll. The Muskies were ranked as high as 11th during the season. Muskingum finished the season 27-4 overall with an 8-1 slate in the OAC and secured their best campaign since 1999, a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular-Season Championship for the first time since 1999, and their 10th appearance in the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament. The Muskies also clinched the team's first NCAA Tournament triumph since 1999 after beating Wittenberg to advance to the Regional Semifinals. Huey's tutelage helped three players earn All-American Honorable Mention accolades.

"We are excited to welcome Taylour back to our department and back to our volleyball program," said Muskingum Director of Athletics Kari Winters. "The pride that she has showcased during this national search for the program, and ultimately this institution, was a separator during the entire process. To bring an alumna back as a recruiter, mentor, leader, and colleague is very exciting, and I know that she will bring her visions for the volleyball program to fruition. Our volleyball program has a strong tradition of excellence, and we are excited to watch it continue to develop under Coach Huey's leadership."

During the 2020 campaign, Huey helped lead the Muskies to a record of 18-3 overall and a mark of 16-2 in the OAC during the regular season. The Muskies clinched back-to-back Ohio Athletic Conference Regular-Season Championships. Muskingum also finished with a final ranking of 16th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 Poll.

"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be given the keys to the Muskingum volleyball program," said Coach Huey. "This university means so much to my family and I. The path has truly been paved for my success, and I am looking forward to the continuation of academic and athletic excellence. I am blessed to have such a great foundation to stand on, and I am thrilled to be back home!"

In the 2021 campaign, Huey helped guide Muskingum to the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament semi-finals, which marked the program's sixth straight OAC Tournament appearance. In 2018, Huey helped coach Muskingum to a runner-up spot in the OAC Tournament for the seventh time in school history and a spot in the OAC Tournament Finals for the first time since 2006.

Huey (Fatheree), a Muskingum University alumna, played for three years on the Muskingum volleyball team and was a student assistant for one. While on the team, Huey secured 837 kills, 121 digs, and 1,034 points and was a two-time Second Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree.

Huey graduated in 2018 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and Psychology. Huey resides in Zanesville with her husband, Michael Huey, and their three daughters, Addison, Emerson, and Karson.
