Volleyball drops to Mount Union

The Muskingum  Volleyball team dropped their OAC match against Mount Union, 3-1 on Wednesday evening. The Muskies won set one, 25-19, but fell to the Purple Raiders in the remaining three sets, 20-25, 24-26, 22-25.

How it Happened

  • The Muskies dominated the Purple Raiders in the opening set jumping out to an 11-2 lead. Mount Union would come within two points in the set, but the Muskies would use a 5-1 run to capture a 25-19, set one win.
  • In set two, the Purple Raiders jumped out to a 4-1 lead. They saw their lead get as big as five points leading the Muskies, 16-11. Muskingum would trail by two later in the set, but a 5-2 run would give Mount Union their first set win of the night.
  • The Muskies jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but Mount Union responded with four unanswered points to take a 4-3 lead. Later in the set, the Muskies went on a 7-1 run making it 18-12 Muskies. Mount Union battled their way back and won set three, 26-24.
  • In set four, both teams battled back-and-forth until Mount Union took a 16-13 lead. The Muskies made a 6-1 run to take a 19-17 lead. Mount Union ended the set on a 4-0 run to win, 25-22.

Inside the Numbers

  • The Muskies were led by senior Brooke Bigrigg who tallied 19 kills and 24 digs.
  • Junior Lexie Huck hammered 12 kills, while junior Emma Dunham registered nine kills and two blocks.
  • Senior Erin Dickson dished out a game-high 33 assists and tallied five kills.
  • Junior Emma Conrad notched 14 assists, and freshman Kylie DeLuca recorded a team-high 29 digs.
  • Mount Union was led by Heaven Bartell with 15 kills.
  • Muskingum totaled 54 kills, 52 assists, 97 digs, and four service aces.
  • Mount Union tallied 58 kills, 52 assists, 89 digs, and six service aces.
