The Muskingum volleyball team went undefeated at the Mount Union Invite. The Muskies defeated Earlham 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-19) and conquered NAIA foe Mount Vernon Nazarene, 3-2 (22-25, 25-17,18-25, 25-18, 15-11) on Friday. On Saturday, the Muskies beat the Brockport Eagles 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-17) and spiked Wooster 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-23). The tournament ended with junior setter Erin Dickson and junior outside hitter Brooke Fatheree being named to the 2019 Mount Union Invitational All Tournament Team. Fatheree was also named 2019 Mount Union Invitational MVP.

- With these victories, the Muskies improve to 4-0 on the year.
Friday Action
vs. Earlham
- As a team, Muskingum registered 42 kills, 36 assists, and 69 digs.
- In set one, the Muskies fought neck and neck with the Quakers with no one claiming more than a four-point lead early on. The Muskies then registered a 7-4 run, locking in the set with a score of 25-20.
- In set two, the contest remained tight until the Muskies tallied a 6-2 run to slide past the Quakers with a score of 14-10. The Muskies registered six consecutive points to widen the gap to 20-10. A kill by junior Kaitlin Goedde-Noble secured the dominating 25-15 victory for the Muskies.
- In set three, the Muskies and Quakers fought side by side with neither team claiming more than a two-point lead early on. The Muskies recorded back-to-back points to jump out to a 21-17 lead over the Quakers. Earlham fought to close the gap, but the Muskies continued to control play. A kill by junior Jada Briggs notched the 25-19 victory for the Muskies. The victory marked Muskingum's first victory of the 2019 season.
- Junior Maddie McGee led the Muskies with a team-high nine kills.
- Junior Brynn Guist, freshman Alexis Hall, and junior Brooke Fatheree chipped in eight kills each.
- Fatheree also registered a team-best 18 digs.
- The Muskie attack was led by junior Erin Dickson who recorded 31 assists.
- The backline was anchored by junior Jessica Cottle who registered 14 digs.
- Freshman Emma Conrad logged a career-best 13 digs.
vs. Mount Vernon Nazarene
- As a team, Muskingum secured 69 kills, 63 assists, and 116 digs.
- Fatheree guided the Muskies with a team-high 17 kills and a team-best 24 digs.
- Guist chipped in 15 kills, while Hall contributed 14.
- Dickson controlled the Muskie attack with a team-best 47 assists.
- Conrad tallied 10 assists and dished out 10 digs.
- Cottle amassed 24 digs and secured two service aces.
Saturday Action
vs. Brockport
- As a team, the Muskies recorded 38 kills, 29 assists, and 60 digs.
- In the first set, the Muskies jumped out to an early 6-2 lead over the Eagles. Brockport answered back with 7-3 run to get them within one-point (10-9) of the Muskies. The contest remained tight until Muskingum recorded four consecutive points to expand the gap to 23-16. A kill by Fatheree locked in the 25-17 victory.
- In the second set, the Muskies and Eagles fought side by side with neither team gaining more than a two-point lead early on. Brockport registered back-to-back points to slide past the Muskies with a score of 11-8. Muskingum retaliated with a ferocious 10-1 run to take control of the set with a score of 18-12. The Eagles chipped away at the deficit, but the Muskies could not be halted.
- Muskingum came out hot in the third set, tallying a 7-1 run to jump out to an early lead of 11-3. Muskingum recorded five uninterrupted points to expand the advantage to 17-6. The Eagles attempted to close the gap, but the Muskies continued to control play en route to a dominating 25-17 triumph.
- Fatheree registered a team-best 11 kills and secured 11 digs.
- McGee, Guist, and Dickson chipped in six kills each.
- Junior Maddie Sikorski anchored the Muskie defense with 13 digs, while Cottle amassed 12 digs.
- Dickson also tallied a team-best 20 assists.
vs. Wooster
- As a team, Muskingum secured 45 kills, 38 assists, and 80 digs.
- Fatheree guided the Muskies with 13 kills, while Goedde-Noble recorded 12.
- Fatheree also dished out a team-high 22 digs.
- Dickson led the Muskies with 18 assists.
- Cottle anchored the Muskie backline with 18 digs.

- The Muskies next compete at the CWRU Invitational on Friday, September 6 and Saturday, September 7. On Friday, Muskingum battles Washington and Jefferson (7:30 p.m.) and on Saturday they face CWRU (10:00 a.m.) and Thiel (12:00 p.m.).
