Muskingum Volleyball - This Week

The Muskingum volleyball team will take its 3-1 record to the Kenyon Tournament on Friday, September 7, and Saturday, September 8.

This past weekend, sophomore Brooke Fatheree led the team in kills with 65. Fatheree also added 51 digs and 70 points. Sophomore Brynn Guist logged 31 kills, and freshman Carson Miller added 38. The offensive efforts were led by sophomore Erin Dickson who registered a team-best 157 assists, averaging 10.47 digs per set. On the defensive side, sophomore Jessica Cottle recorded a team-high 87 digs, while senior Jordan Youngs added 40. As a team, the Muskies recorded 200 kills, 188 assists, and 278 digs.

The Muskies next take on Grove City at the Kenyon Tournament Friday, September 7 at 6:00 p.m. Grove City stands 0-3 on the season losing their matches against Mass-Boston (3-1), Mount Union (3-0), and Wooster (3-2) at the Classic Columbus Battle. Sophomore Elisabeth Sems led the Wolverines with 19 kills. Junior Emma Hartshorn added 11 kills, while sophomore Brooke Sorenson logged 12. The Wolverines attack was led by Hartshorn who registered 25 assists. The defensive end was anchored by junior Katie McClymonds who logged 60 digs on the weekend, averaging 5 digs per set. Grove City finished their weekend with 96 kills, 62 assists, and 181 digs.  

Then on Saturday, September 8 at 12:00 p.m. the Muskies take on Mount Saint Joseph. Mount Saint Joseph is currently 2-0 on the year winning their matches against Cincinnati Christian (3-1) and Wilmington (3-0). Senior Cailey Plemmons leads the Gaels with 29 kills and a hitting percentage of .424. The senior tandem of Riley Brunner and Briana Looney both added over 20 kills each. The offensive action is led by senior Sydney Wilzbach who has a team-high 81 assists. Junior Karlie Schell leads the team in digs with 33. Mount Saint Joseph has registered 101 kills, 96 assists, and 114 digs.

Also on Saturday, the Muskies take on Kenyon at 2:00 p.m. Kenyon is 4-0 on the year after beating the following teams at the Marietta College River City Classic: Earlham College (3-1), Franciscan University (3-0), Emory and Henry College (3-0), and Marietta College (3-0). Senior Delaney Swanson leads the team in kills with 46, averaging 3.83 kills per set. Junior Haley Witschey logged 32 kills, while junior Mackenzie Bruzzio added 40. The Kenyon offensive action is led by sophomore Meghan Cason who had 122 assists in three games. Brunzo also leads the team in digs with 40. Freshman Katie Howard added 37 digs, while Swanson logged 36. Kenyon has recorded 166 kills, 153 assists, and 199 digs on the year.
