Volleyball looks to challenge for top spot in the OAC

The Muskingum volleyball team under the direction of Head Coach Hallie Donathan returns 12 lettwinners and three starters from last year's 20-win team that finished fourth in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Muskies will look towards a strong returning nucleus and a blue-chip recruiting class to help Muskingum challenge for a top spot in the league this fall.

Leading the Muskies on the court will be sophomore outside hitter Brooke Fatheree, sophomore setter Erin Dickson, sophomore outside hitter Kayla Hall, and sophomore defensive specialist Maddie Sikorski.

Fatheree, an Honorable Mention All-OAC honoree last season, ended her freshman campaign with a team-best 299 kills (3.48 kills-per-set) and ranked second with 301 digs (3.50 digs-per-set). She also chipped in 37 total blocks, 32 assists and 32 service aces. Fatheree finished the regular season ranked ninth in kills and fourth in service aces in the OAC.

Dickson recorded a team-best 759 assists and added 397 digs and 63 kills. Hall registered 78 kills and 13 blocks, while Sikorski helped defend the back row en route to logging 190 digs.

Also adding depth and talent to the Muskie squad are sophomore outside hitter Jessica Cottle, senior outside hitter Miranda Plumly, junior middle hitter Jada Briggs, junior outside hitter Allison Cramer, senior defensive specialist Jordan Youngs, sophomore outside hitter Kaitlin Goedde, sophomore outside hitter Brynn Guist and sophomore defensive specialist Kamryn Smith.

Muskingum opens the season on Friday, August 31, against Washington & Lee at the Classic Columbus Battle at Otterbein. The Muskies open home play on Tuesday, September 18, against Pitt-Greensburg. Muskingum begins OAC play on Saturday, September 29, at John Carroll.
