The Muskingum volleyball team dominated play at the DePauw Invitational to remain red hot. The Muskies recorded straight set wins against Wheaton (Ill.), Hanover, Rose-Hulman and DePauw to improve to 11-1 overall.
The Basics
- The tournament was hosted by DePauw.
- Muskingum now stands at 11-1 overall.
- The Muskies next travel to the Wittenberg Tri-Match on Saturday, September 23 to play the Tigers and Oberlin starting at 2:00 p.m.
Notables
- Muskingum is off to its best start since the 2008 campaign. That season the Muskies advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
- Muskingum has only surrendered five sets all season.
- Following the invitational, freshman Brooke Fatheree and senior Chloe Brandewie were named to the all-tournament team.
How It Happened
- The Muskies swept past the competition by on Friday by beating Wheaton (Ill.) 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-18) and by beating Hanover 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-21)
- Muskingum stayed hot on Saturday with straight-set wins against Rose-Hulman (25-20, 25-11, 25-14) and DePauw (25-23, 25-20, 25-18).
- Brooke Fatheree led the net attack with 55 kills. She also added 36 digs.
- Senior Taylour Fatheree added 36 kills 16 blocks.
- Brandewie had 31 spikes and six blocks.
- Freshman Erin Dickson recorded 129 assists and had four service aces.
- Senior Courtney Nestoff recorded 64 digs to help pace the backline.
- Junior Jordan Youngs had 42 digs.
