Volleyball drops four-set battle at ONU

The Muskingum volleyball team dropped a four-set battle at 22nd-ranked Ohio Northern on Saturday. The Polar Bears took the match 25-14, 17-25, 25-20, 25-20.

The Basics

  • Records: Muskingum (18-9 overall, 4-3 OAC), Ohio Northern (20-5 overall, 6-1 OAC)
  • Location: Ada, Ohio - at ONU Sports Center

Match Notes

  • With two games left in the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season, Muskingum is tied for fourth in the league with John Carroll and Mount Union. The top four teams at the end of the regular season host opening round games of the OAC Tournament. 

How It Happened

  • Freshman Ashley Reynolds led the net attack with 12 kills
  • Senior Brooke Scott added 12 kills and had four blocks.
  • Junior Katie Hunt had 10 kills and five blocks.
  • Sophomore Taylor Mathews directed the attack with 44 assists. She also registered 12 digs and two blocks.
  • Sophomore Deidre Prince led the back row with 28 digs.
  • Muskingum ended the match with 50 kills, 48 assists, 96 digs and 15 blocks.
  • Ohio Northern was paced by Ellie Gillespie who had 17 kills.
  • Ashley Borchers had 39 assists and nine kills for the Polar Bears.
  • ONU ended the outing with 52 kills, 51 assists, 91 digs and seven blocks.
