Volleyball drops pair at Franklin & Marshall Tri

The Muskingum volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday at the Franklin & Marshall Tri.

The Muskies fell in their opening contest against Ursinus, 3-2 (23-25, 25-17, 24-26, 25-16, 13-15). The five-set thriller was the eighth five-set match the Muskies have played in this season.

Sophomore Katie Hunt led the squad with 19 kills, while freshman Taylour Fatheree added 10 spikes. Junior Brooke Scott and freshman Chlor Brandewie each had seven kills.

Freshman Taylor Mathews recorded 30 assists and eight digs, while sophomore Kayleigh Hendrix had 19 assists to help aid the Muskie effort.

Freshman Deidre Prince logged 15 digs to lead the back row.

In Muskingum's final match of the day, the Muskies fell against host Franklin & Marshall, 3-1 (16-25, 12-25, 25-23, 17-25).

Hunt led the net attack with 10 kills and Fatheree and Scott each added seven spikes. Senior Alexa Abrams had seven kills and 15 digs.

Mathews registered 19 assists and Hendrix had 12 assists.

Muskingum next hosts Ohio Athletic Conference rival Baldwin Wallace on Friday, October 3. The 7:00 p.m. match will mark the league opener for both teams.
