Volleyball drops matches at BW Invite

The Muskingum volleyball team posted an 0-4 record on the road at the Baldwin Wallace Invitational on Friday-Saturday. 

On Friday evening, the Muskies lost to Hiram 3-0 (25-21, 25-10, 25-19). 

Sophomore Katie Hunt led the attack with six kills. Close behind were junior Brooke Scott and freshman Taylour Fatheree with five kills each. Fatheree also helped protect the net by adding two blocks.

Aiding the Muskie attack was freshman Taylor Mathews who had nine assists. 

Senior Alexa Abrams and Scott defended the back row with seven digs each. 

Muskingum ended the match with 25 kills, 40 digs, and 23 assists.

To finish out play on Friday, Muskingum lost 3-1 (19-25, 25-12, 25-15, 25-13) to Case Western. 

Scott recorded 11 kills, along with Fatheree and sophomore Haley Slaton both adding seven kills. 

Sophomore Kaleigh Hendrix helped the attack with 11 assists. Mathews and freshman Laura Hill also assisted the attack with seven each. 

In the back court, freshman Deidre Prince and Mathews recorded 18 and 11 digs, respectively. 

The Muskies ended with 37 kills, 54 digs, and 36 assists against the Spartans. 

In its first game on Saturday, Muskingum battled Grove City in five close sets, but fell short in a 3-2 lost (25-23, 25-17, 16-25, 12-25, 15-12). 

Scott ran the net for the Muskies by hammering out 20 kills. Hunt also helped in the front row by adding 15 kills and five blocks. Abrams and Fatheree both had 11 kills. 

The Muskie attack was aided by the freshmen duo of Mathews and Hill who recorded 30 and 17 assists, resectively. 

Prince logged 27 digs for Muskingum's defense, along with Abrams, who added 23 digs. 

Muskingum recorded a total 64 kills, 106 digs, and 14 blocks against Grove City. 

The Muskies finished play for Saturday with a 3-2 loss against Westminster (21-25, 25-22, 25-17, 13-25, 15-13). 

Muskingum next hosts Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday, September 7. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
