Muskingum spikes Kenyon to grab seventh win

The Muskingum University volleyball team spiked Kenyon College on Saturday afternoon, 3-1 (26-24, 25-22, 20-25, 25-9).

With the win, Muskingum moves to 7-3 overall. The Muskies next host Franciscan University on Wednesday, September 18. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on WMCO 90.7 FM and simulcast on the Muskie Sports Network.

In the opening set, Muskingum rallied from a 22-16 deficit by outscoring the Lords 10-2 to close out the frame.

The Muskies then took a closely contested second set before dropping set three to Kenyon.

In the fourth set, Muskingum raced out to an 11-3 lead to take control en route to the win.

Muskingum senior Hanna Rose led the Muskie attack with 19 kills. She also added 10 digs. Freshman Katie Hunt added eight spikes and recorded five block assists, while sophomore Brooke Scott and freshman Haley Slaton each notched six kills.

Sophomore Heather Smith paced the defensive effort with 20 digs and junior Alexa Abrams added 17 digs.

Freshman Kaleigh Hendrix registered a team-best 18 assists to direct the attack.

Kenyon (0-9) was led by Sierra DeLoan who hit a game-high 20 spikes. Hannah Shank logged a game-high 38 assists and Mitchell McKenzie had 19 digs.
