Wigal dominates, leads Women’s Indoor Track & Field to second-place finish

Senior Jace Wigal notched first-place finishes in the Shot Put and Weight Throw to lead the Muskingum Women's Indoor Track and Field Team to a second-place finish in Muskingum Meet #4 on Friday night. 

The Basics

  • Location: Bullock Health & Wellness Complex – New Concord, Ohio
  • Muskingum finished second out of a nine-team field.
  • The Muskies finished with a total of 99 points.
  • California University of Pennsylvania claimed the team title with an overall score of 102.

 Notables

  • Senior Jace Wigal notched first-place finishes in both the Shot Put (11.04 meters) and Weight Throw (13.85 meters) to help pace the Muskingum Women's Indoor Track and Field Team to a second-place finish in Muskingum Meet #4 on Friday night.

On the Track 

  • Freshman Kilikina Schultz finished second in the 200-meter with a time of 27.55, while her teammate freshman Averi Wallace finished third with a time of 27.79, and sophomore Jacquelynn Grinnell ran a time of 28.78 to finish eighth for Muskingum in the event.
  • Schultz also finished third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.79.
  • In the 800-meter, freshman Rylee Bollenbacher notched a third-place finish with a time of 2:35.50, while freshman Alyssa Heinrichs tallied a time of 2:45.74 to place sixth.
  • Freshman Abigail Derry ran a time of 1:06.42 to finish third in the 400-meter, while freshman Emily Keylor secured a sixth-place finish with a time of 1:11.85.
  • Senior Emily Fieseler finished sixth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.70, while freshman Briana Rowe notched a time of 8.79 to finish seventh. 

 On the Field

  • Freshman Savannah Strawmyer tallied a first-place finish in the Pole Vault with a mark of 2.59 meters, while senior Kiri Williams finished second with a height of 2.44 meters.
  • In the Long Jump, sophomore Hailey Stroud leaped a distance of 3.88 meters to finish fifth. 
  • Freshman Avrie O'Neil placed sixth in the weight throw with a mark of 12.23 meters, while freshman Kylie Andres tossed a distance of 11.37 meters to finish eighth. 

 Up Next

  • Muskingum is set to compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 24-25. The event will be hosted by Baldwin Wallace in Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.
