Women's soccer shuts out rival Marietta

The Muskingum women's soccer team shut out Ohio Athletic Conference rival Marietta on Tuesday night in McConagha Stadium, 1-0.

The Basics

  • Records: Muskingum (2-10-1 overall, 1-3 OAC), Marietta (0-14 overall, 0-4 OAC)

How It Happened

  • Muskingum sophomore Miranda Bishop delivered the game-winning goal in th 51st minute. Bishop took a pass from sophomore Stephanie Siwicki and drilled a near-post shot past Pioneer keeper Rebecca Tenney. The goal was the second of the season for Bishop.
  • The assist for Siwicki was her first of the season.
  • The Muskies ended the night with 24 shots and five corner kicks. Junior Morgan Price and freshman Emily Wiley led the team with six shots each. Price had one strike hit the post and Wiley narrowly missed on a long-range free kick that was tip saved by Tenney.
  • Freshman Tori Stuard added four shots.
  • Freshman Heather Maxwell, senior Hailey Dickey, junior Sarah Landuyt, Siwicki and senior Lauren Hambel led the defensive backline en route to recording Muskingum's first shutout of the season.
  • Marietta had 21 shots and two corner kicks. Layne Archer led the squad with 11 shots.

Between The Pipes

  • Maxwell played 90 outstanding minutes in goal and made a career-high 10 saves to notch her first career win.
  • Tenney played all 90 minutes in frame and allowed one goal and made seven saves.
