Burkholder ends magical season with a 30-4 record

Muskingum senior wrestler Jordan Burkholder's quest for a National Title and All-American honors ended on Friday in the 125-pound bracket at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships at the Berglund Center in Roanoke, Virginia.

Burkholder dropped his opening match at the championships against second-seed Mike Tortorice of Wisconsin Whitewater, 12-7. Despite facing an early 6-0 deficit in the battle, Burkholder fought back and outscored Tortorice 7-6 in the second and third periods. 

Burkholder's run at the championships ended against seven-seed Brady Kyner of Wartburg, 8-4. Kyner built an early 6-0 lead after the first period and held off a determined Burkholder to secure the win.

Burkholder, a First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree, was ranked in the top 10 nationally throughout the campaign. He ended the season with an outstanding 30-4 record which includes seven falls, seven technical falls, and two major decisions. 

Throughout the season, Burkholder compiled an impressive list of tournament accomplishments which include finishing first at the Waynesburg Tournament, first at the Washington & Jefferson Tournament, first at the Ohio Northern Tournament, and third at the Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational. Most recently, Burkholder finished second at the NCAA Central Regional Wrestling Championships.
