Women’s lacrosse tames the Lions in dominant season-opening win

The Muskingum women's lacrosse team was firing on all cylinders on the offensive side of the ball in a 21-1 dominating season-opening win over Mount St. Joseph.

  • The contest marked Muskingum's 2025 season-opener.
  • Senior Riley Hudock became the program leader in goals for a career after scorching the nets with five goals today. Hudock was tied with Ashley Adams (2015-18) at 145 goals in a career entering today's game.
  • Senior Megan Lang surpassed the career 100 points mark in today's game after registering three goals and one assist. Lang is the fourth Muskie in program history to surpass the 100 total point mark.
  • Graduate Student Hannah Heyboer finished with five assists in the game which is tied for fourth most in a game in program history. Heyboer also continues to be the program leader in assists and the only Muskie with more than 60 assists in a career, currently sitting at 61 total assists.
  • The overpowering Muskie offense combined for a total of 21 goals nearly tying the school record at 22 goals in a game.
  • The Muskies as a team finished with 11 assists, one assist short of tying the school record for assists in a game as a team. 

Inside the Numbers

  • The Muskies recorded 21 goals, 11 assists, 22 ground balls, and 16 draw controls.
  • The dynamic duo of senior Riley Hudock and senior Riley Zwagerman led the Muskies, as they both scored five goals in the contest. Hudock added three ground balls and Zwagerman assisted one goal.
  • Senior Megan Lang tallied a three-goal performance and one assist.
  • Senior Haley Clifton added four goals and four ground balls on the day.
  • Sophomore Amanda Charness logged two goals, one assist, and two ground balls.
  • Junior Ella Duling and graduate student Hannah Heyboer each scored a goal.
  • Heyboer finished with five assists in the contest.
  • Junior Maria Decaminada logged two assists.
  • Sophomore Malena Brady notched her first career win in goal for the Muskies.
