Women’s Lacrosse dominates Waynesburg

The Muskingum women's lacrosse team dominated Waynesburg on Monday night, 21-5.

Notables

  • Muskingum fell one goal short of the program record for goals scored in a game (22). The record was set last season against Waynesburg.

How it Happened

  • Muskingum jumped out to a quick 8-1 lead after the first quarter.
  • The Muskies tallied six unanswered goals in the second quarter and headed into the break with a 14-1 lead.
  • Muskingum added another five goals in period three to take a 19-2 lead heading into the fourth.
  • Even though Waynesburg used a 3-2 final period, it wouldn't be enough as Muskingum claimed the dominating 21-5 victory.

Inside the Numbers

  • Muskingum ended the outing with 32 shots and 28 ground balls.
  • Muskingum was a perfect 14-for-14 on clear attempts.
  • The Muskies were led by sophomore Riley Hudock who put six in the net off a perfect 6-for-6 on target. She added an assist for a total of seven points, as well as picking up three ground balls, caused one turnover, and had four draw controls.
  • Sophomore Megan Lang tallied four goals, while junior Hannah Heyboer also scored four goals and dished out two assists.
  • Sophomore Riley Zwagerman notched three goals, picked up a team-best five ground balls, and had three draw controls, while sophomore Haley Clifton tallied two goals and picked up two ground balls.
  • Senior Raiyah Johnson and freshman Malysea Flood each added a goal and picked up two ground balls apiece to round out the Muskingum scoring effort. 
  • Sophomore Kennedy Norch finished with a team-best five draw controls.
  • Freshman Goalkeeper Kyleigh Dahlgren notched three saves in 60:00 minutes of action for the Muskies.
  • Waynesburg was led by Eve O'Sullivan and Tori Meiklejohn who scored two goals apiece.
