Muskingum women's basketball sophomores Halle Morehead and Caitlyn DeMassimo were named to the 2022-23 CSC Academic All-District Team, the College Sports Communicators announced Tuesday afternoon.

The 2022-23 Academic All-District Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Morehead, a Business Management and Accounting major, started in 24 of Muskingum's 25 games this year. She averaged career-highs in points per game (6.5), free-throw percentage (73.8%) and led the team with 2.9 assists per game.  

DeMassimo, a Special Education major, etched her name in the record books for Muskingum during the 2022-23 season. DeMassimo set school records for points in a game (38), free throws made in a game (16), and free throws attempted in a game (17) to fuel Muskingum to a thrilling double-overtime victory over 11th-ranked Ohio Northern. DeMassimo ranked second in the Ohio Athletic Conference in free throw percentage at 89.4% and averaged 12.5 points per game which put her fourth in the conference. Additionally, she also grabbed 6.8 boards per game which landed her fifth in the OAC.

As a result of their All-District nominations, Morehead and DeMassimo will advance to the CSC Academic-America ballot. The Academic All-America Team will be announced in March.
