The Muskingum women's basketball team defeated Heidelberg in the opening round of the OAC Tournament on Monday night, 56-40. The win over the Student Princes marks the Muskies' first OAC Tournament victory since the 2012-13 season.

How it Happened
- After both teams traded opening baskets in the first quarter, Muskingum strung together a 13-0 run jumping out to a 15-2 lead over Heidelberg with 5:29 remaining. The Muskies took quarter one, 19-9.
- A low-scoring second quarter from both teams saw the Student Princes have a 6-2 edge on the Muskies. Muskingum held a 21-15 lead heading into the break.
- Heidelberg would take advantage of Muskie fouls in the third quarter, going 10-of-15 from the free-throw line drawing the deficit down to two, with 4:34 remaining in the quarter.
- The Muskies used an 11-5 run to close out the third period to lead the Student Princes 40-31 heading into the final quarter.
- A Muskingum 16-9 final period would secure a 56-40 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Sophomore Abby Jones led the Muskies with a game-high 15 points and four rebounds.
- Sophomore Taylor DeMassimo registered 12 points and grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds for the Muskies.
- Freshman Halle Morehead tied her game-high 11 points, while senior Sarah Miller chipped in eight points and grabbed six rebounds.
- Halle Rogers led Heidelberg with 13 points.
