Women’s Basketball falls to Wilmington

 The Muskingum women's basketball team slipped to Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Wilmington on Wednesday, 79-63.

  • The Muskies were led by freshman Caitlyn DeMassimo who registered 15 points to go along with six rebounds.
  • Sophomore Taylor DeMassimo notched 13 points for Muskingum, while sophomore Abby Jones netted seven points and grabbed five rebounds.
  • Senior Tanner Wirth chipped in eight points and dished out four assists, while freshman Halle Morehead totaled eight points and grabbed two rebounds.
  • Wilmington was led by Kennedy Lewis with 26 points.
  • On the game Muskingum shot 22-of-55 (40.0%) from the field, while Wilmington went 31-of-64 (48.4%) from the field.

How it Happened

  • Out of the gate, Wilmington jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the opening two minutes of the contest, but Muskingum was able to close the quarter out on a 5-2 run to trim down the Quaker lead to three.
  • Wilmington used a slim 20-18 advantage in the second quarter to have a 38-33 lead going into the break.
  • The Quakers erupted on a 26-point third quarter to extend their lead 64-45 heading into the final period.
  • Despite the Muskies 18-15 advantage in the final period, it wasn't enough as Wilmington secured a 79-63 victory.
