Women’s Basketball drops intense battle to #3 John Carroll

The Muskingum women's basketball team fell in an intense battle to #3 John Carroll on Saturday afternoon, 76-68. The contest marked OAC openers for the both the Muskies and Blue Streaks.

How it happened

  • The Blue Streaks grabbed a 24-19 advantage over the Muskies after the first quarter.
  • The Muskies battled back from a seven-point deficit and took a 32-31 lead with 2:52 remaining in the half off Abby Jones made free-throws.
  • The Muskingum defense held the Blue Streak offense to only nine points in the second quarter.
  • The Muskies went into the break leading the Blue Streaks 38-33.
  • With 5:40 remaining in the third, John Carroll clawed their way back in the contest and took a slim 44-42 lead.
  • John Carroll had a  59-53 lead going into the fourth.
  • A Taylor DeMassimo three evened the game at 63 with 3:23 remaining in the contest, forcing a Blue Streak time-out.
  • Out of the time-out, John Carroll used a 13-point surge to extend their lead defeating the Muskies, 76-68.
