Women’s Basketball dominates Thiel in Home-Opener

The Muskingum women's basketball team defeated Thiel in their season/home opener on Friday night 96-62 in the Anne C. Steele Center.

Inside the Numbers

  • Freshman Caitlyn DeMassimo guided the Muskies with a team-high 18 points. DeMassimo shot 7-of-13 (53.8%) from the field and 4-of-4 (100.0%) from the free-throw line.
  • Senior Tanner Wirth chipped in 16 points, shooting 6-of-8 (75.0%) from the field. Wirth dished out six assists and grabbed five boards.
  • Sophomore Taylor DeMassimo registered 13 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out two assists.

  • The Muskies went 8-of-15 (53.3%) from the field and 3-for-4 from behind the arc to take a 25-11 lead over the Tomcats in the first quarter.
  • Muskingum used a 19-14 edge in the second quarter to take a 44-25 led going into the break.
  • The Tomcats outshot the Muskies 20-18 in the third quarter cutting the deficit, 62-45 going into the fourth quarter.
  • In the fourth quarter, the Muskies used a 34-point surge to pull away from the Tomcats.

  • Aiding Muskingum to their victory was their points in the paint, dominating the Tomcats 48-26.
