Women's Basketball sets record for three-point shots made in home-opening win against Wilmington

The Muskingum women's basketball team set the school record for most three-point shots made in a game with 15 en route to beating Wilmington in its home opener on Saturday night, 93-83. The win propelled the Muskies to a series split against the Quakers.

  • The Muskies connected on 15-of-30 three-point shots to set the school record for three-point shots made in a game. The previous record was 14, which was last accomplished during the 2016-17 campaign against Sewanee. The three-point barrage was led by freshman Baileigh Bishop, junior Tanner Wirth, freshman Taylor DeMassimo and senior Camay Baylock, who all made three each, while senior Olivia Lang made two and freshman Abby Jones sank one.
  • Muskingum's win against the Quakers marked the Muskies' first win against Wilmington since the 2013-14 season.

Inside The Numbers

  • The Muskies had six players score in double figures, with Wirth leading the Muskies with 19 points. She also added a team-best six assists and grabbed five boards.
  • DeMassimo scored 18 points and was 9-of-10 from the free-throw line.
  • Baylock added 13 points and four boards.
  • Jones and Bishop each had 11 points. Jones also chipped in four rebounds, and Bishop registered two boards.
  • Lang rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Game Highlights

Muskingum seized control in the first quarter connecting on seven three-point shots and shooting .524 from the field. Leading the early charge was Wirth with 11 points and DeMassimo with six points. The Muskies rode the hot shooting to a 31-18 advantage at the end of the first quarter. In the second frame, the Muskies ballooned their lead to 22 before taking a 51-38 lead into the break.

Muskingum outscored the Quakers 23-18 in the third quarter to take a decisive 74-56 lead into the final quarter en route to the home win.
