The Muskingum women's basketball team slipped in its season-opening game at Wilmington on Friday evening, 96-81.

• Freshman Abby Jones led the Muskies with 13 points. She connected on 4-of-8 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line.
• Junior Sarah Miller, junior Tanner Wirth, and freshman Baileigh Bishop all added 12 points.
• Miller and sophomore Casey Smith paced the squad with six boards each.
• Senior Olivia Lang and senior Camay Baylock each registered five assists.
• Muskingum ended the game shooting 31-of-76 (.408) from the floor and connected on 6-of-27 (.222) from behind the arc.

Game Highlights

Muskingum and Wilmington were tied at 18-18 through the opening eight minutes of play before the Quakers closed out the first quarter with an 11-2 run to take a 29-20 lead. Wilmington maintained the advantage in the second quarter and extended its margin to 56-35 heading into the break.

In the second half, the Quakers pushed their lead to 81-51 after three quarters. Muskingum ended the final stanza with a 30-15 surge to trim its deficit to 15 points.
