#WinsDay celebrating Muskingum's big win's throughout the 2019-20 year

#WinsDay features the Muskingum women's basketball team's thrilling victory over Ohio Northern on Saturday, January 11, in the Anne C. Steele Center. The Muskies defeated the Polar Bears 58-55 to earn Head Coach Erin Eaton her first Ohio Athletic Conference victory. 

In the first quarter, the contest remained tight, with neither team gaining more than a three-point lead early on. Sophomore Olivia Lang connected on a three-pointer at the 3:25 juncture to ignite an 11-5 run for the Muskies to help give Muskingum a 21-14 edge going into the second quarter. Ohio Northern managed to outscore the Muskies in the second (16-15) and third (12-8) quarters to trim the Muskie edge to 44-42 going into the final frame. 

In the fourth quarter, with the score tied 55-55 and less than a minute remaining, Lang drilled a three-pointer in the waning seconds to propel Muskingum to a thrilling 58-55 victory. Muskingum ended the game with a 9-1 surge over the final 3:52 of the contest to erase a 54-49 deficit.   

As a team, Muskingum grabbed 27 rebounds, recorded 11 assists, and logged five steals. Lang, who played a game-high 37 minutes, paved the way for the Muskie offense with 11 points, shooting 4-of-8 (50.0%) from the field, which included hitting 3-of-5 (60.0%) from behind the arc. Junior Camay Baylock also chipped in 11 points, with five rebounds and two assists. Freshman Casey Smith scored 10 points, while freshman Emily Hartshorn secured a team-best six boards.

  • The victory marked the first Ohio Athletic Conference win for Head Coach Erin Eaton. 
  • Muskingum claimed its first triumph over Ohio Northern since the 2010-11 season. That year, the Muskies beat the Polar Bears in the Anne C. Steele Center on Saturday, January 22, 52-50.
  • The win was the first Ohio Athletic Conference victory for the Muskies since their 2017-18 season. That year the Muskies defeated Heidelberg on Saturday, February 17, at Heidelberg, 81-53.
  • The Muskies made 10 three-point shots.
