Mount Union used a 27-13 fourth-quarter surge to sink Muskingum on Monday night in Alliance, 79-67.

Inside The Numbers

  • Sophomore Olivia Besancon led the Muskies with 20 points. She connected on 6-of-7 shots from the floor and made 8-of-9 free throws.
  • Junior Mallory Taylor added 13 points and three rebounds.
  • Junior Jasmine Goings had 12 points and three rebounds.
  • Muskingum ended the outing shooting .489 (22-of-45) from the floor.
  • Mount Union was paced by Annie Bova who scored 18 points.
  • Katie Reed also scored 14 points.
  • The Purple Raiders shot .490 (25-of-51) from the field, and made 14-of-28 three-point shots.

Game Notes

  • At the end of the opening quarter the game was tied 22-22.
  • Mount Union outscored the Muskies 16-9 in the second quarter to take a 38-31 lead into the break.
  • Muskingum used a big 23-14 third-quarter charge to take a 54-52 lead into the final frame.
  • The Purple Raiders responded to the Muskie charge and closed out the final 10-minute quarter with a 27-13 surge to seal the home win.
