The Muskingum women's basketball team suffered a 70-56 setback against conference rival Baldwin Wallace on Saturday afternoon in the Recreation Center.
The Basics
- Records: Muskingum (1-5 overall, 0-3 OAC), Baldwin Wallace (5-2 overall, 3-0 OAC)
- Location: New Concord, Ohio - Muskingum's Recreation Center
First Period
- Baldwin Wallace quickly set the pace of the game going on a 10-0 run against the Muskies within the first three minutes.
- The Muskies fought back, tying the contest, 15-15, at the 1:44 mark off a three-point shot by junior Mallory Taylor.
- The Yellow Jackets led the Muskies 18-15 at the end of the first period.
- Junior Jasmine Goings led the Muskies with four points and five rebounds.
- Katie Smith led the Yellow Jackets with eight points.
Second Period
- Baldwin Wallace outscored Muskingum 17-12 to increase their lead 35-27 at the half.
- Muskingum connected on 5-of-14 shots from the field and Baldwin Wallace made 6-of-14 from the floor.
- Sophomore Olivia Besancon led the Muskies with five points.
- Baldwin Wallace was led by Courtnay Cruise and Clara Lemmon with four points each.
Third Period
- Baldwin Wallace used a 16-6 run in the opening five minutes of the period to take a 54-33 lead over Muskingum at the 3:28 mark.
- Muskingum trailed 60-37 heading into the fourth period.
- Taylor led the Muskies with four points.
- Freshman Taylor Dudley added three points.
- BW was led by Sydney Clark and Clara Lemmon with five points each.
Fourth Period
- The Muskies finished the fourth period outscoring the Yellow Jackets 19-10.
- Muskingum made 5-of-13 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the free throw line.
- Goings and senior Leigha Moran had four points each for Muskingum.
- Mackenzie Colombo and Lauren Camm had three points each for BW.
Post Game
- Baldwin Wallace held the lead for 38 minutes of the contest. The game was tied for two minutes.
- BW had a 44-30 advantage in rebounds.
- Muskingum finished shooting .305 (18-of-59) from the floor and .857 (12-of-14) from the free throw line.
- Baldwin Wallace made .456 of their shots from the field and made .476 behind the three-point mark.
- The Muskies were led by Goings with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.
- Taylor added nine points for Muskingum.
- Baldwin Wallace was directed by Clara Lemmon with 12 points and Sydney Clark and Katie Smith with 11 points each.
