Marietta rode a second period surge to hand Muskingum a 62-53 setback in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Wednesday night.
The Basics

First Period
- The opening 10 minutes ended with the score tied 13-13.
- Muskingum and Marietta each connected on five shots from the field.
- Junior Jasmine Goings led the Muskies with four points on 2-of-3 shooting.
- Jenna Anderson led the Pioneers with five points.
Second Period
- Marietta outscored the Muskies 26-11 in the period to take a 39-24 lead into the break.
- The Pioneers hit 10-of-18 from the field, including making four three-point shots to grab control.
- Sophomore Hallie Stocker led Muskingum with three points.
- Jo Herd-Middlebrooks, Brooke Borich and Morgan Liedtke all tallied six points each for Marietta.
Third Period
- Both teams mustered just eight points each on a combined 7-of-31 shooting.
- Sophomore Alexandra Carson led the Muskies with four points.
- Goings grabbed five rebounds.
- Amisha Herd led Marietta with four points.
Fourth Period
- Muskingum ended the game outscoring the Pioneers 21-15.
- Despite the final frame run, Muskingum never got closer than seven points.
- Junior Mallory Taylor led the Muskies with a 13-point outburst on 4-of-7 shooting.
Post Game
- Taylor and Goings led Muskingum with 13 points and six rebounds each.
- Senior Leigha Moran grabbed seven boards and had four points.
- Muskingum ended the game shooting .254 (17-of-67) from the field.
- Marietta was led by Herd-Middlebrooks and Herd who each scored 12 points.
- Corrie Burkhardt registered 10 rebounds.
- The Pioneers shot .383 (23-of-60) from the floor and held a slight 47-43 edge in rebounds.
