Muskingum posts 1-1 record at Allegheny

The Muskingum women's basketball team went 1-1 at the Allegheny Tournament on Friday-Saturday. The Muskies lost against Carnegie Mellon 92-63 and rebounded for a 66-60 win against Westminster.

The Basics

Game One

  • Against Carnegie Mellon, Muskingum was led by sophomore Olivia Besancon who scored 16 points.
  • Sophomore Alexandra Carson scored 11 points.
  • Junior Mallory Taylor added 10 points.
  • Muskingum ended the outing shooting .329 (23-of-70) from the field.
  • Lisa Murphy led the Tartons with 27 points.
  • Carnegie Mellon shot .493 (34-of-69) from the floor and held a 54-33 advantage in rebounds.

Game Two

  • The Muskies outscored the Titans 21-14 in the fourth period to erase a one-point deficit to secure the win.
  • The final period surge was highlighted by an 11-2 run.
  • Besancon led the team with 21 points, which included hitting five three-point shots. Following the tournament, Besancon was named to the all-tournament team.
  • Taylor added 18 points and grabbed six rebounds.
  • Muskingum shot .368 (21-of-57) from the field and held a 36-33 edge in rebounds.
  • The Muskies connected on 16-of-19 free throws.
  • Rachel Durbin led Westminster with 19 points and five rebounds.
  • The Titans shot 18-of-48 (.375) from the floor.
