Muskies fall in OAC opener at Marietta

The Muskingum women's basketball team fell in its Ohio Athletic Conference opener at Marietta on Wednesday evening, 75-57.

The Muskies had four players in double figures. Junior Angela Darnley led the team with 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Mallory Taylor, freshman Olivia Besancon and sophomore Jasmine Goings all added 10 points.

Muskingum (2-4, 0-1) ended the outing shooting .362 (21-of-58) from the field.

Marietta (4-2, 1-0) was led by Heather Booth who recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Candice Alexander also added 14 points and seven rebounds.

The Pioneers shot .421 (32-of-76) from the floor and held a 54-36 advantage in rebounds. Marietta also owned a 30-11 edge in bench points.

Marietta took a 33-25 lead into intermission.

In the second half, Marietta maintained its lead against the Muskies and slowly built its margin to 18 to secure the win.

Muskingum next hosts Heidelberg on Saturday, December 6. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
