The Muskingum softball drops two games to Hiram

 The Muskingum softball team dropped two games to Hiram on Monday afternoon. Game one, the Muskies fell 2-1 in a closely contested game. Muskingum would lose game two 5-1.

OAC Tournament

Muskingum will be the two-seed in the upcoming OAC Tournament scheduled to begin on Thursday, May 9. The Muskies will face three-seed Baldwin Wallace. The tournament will be held at top-seed Mount Union who will play four-seed Ohio Northern. The winner of the double elimination tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Softball Championship.

Game One

  • The Muskies were led by freshman Natalie Smith as she posted two hits and scored a run
  • Freshman Eliana Shaheen finished with a hit and an RBI.
  • Freshman Tareyn Born and senior Madelyn Thomas each stepped into the pitching circle. Both players pitched three innings, Born earned three strikeouts and Thomas posted a single strikeout with no hits.

Game Two

  • The Muskies finished with a run, three hits, one RBI, and were walked once.
  • Freshman Taryn Mickley led the Muskies with a hit and an RBI.
  • Sophomore Cara Taylor recorded a hit and a stolen base.
  • Freshman Aimee Heasley crossed the plate for the Muskies to score a run
  • Freshman Bethany Rodman was in the pitching circle for four innings for the Muskies and tallied five strikeouts.

The Muskies will next take the field when they play in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday, May 9, when the two-seed Muskies will challenge the three-seed Baldwin Wallace at 1:00 p.m. The game will be played in Alliance, Ohio
