The Muskingum softball team swept Wittenberg in its home opener on Thursday afternoon, 7-3 and 7-1.
The Basics

Game One
- Muskingum scored seven runs on five hits.
- The Muskies scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning and plated five runs in the sixth inning to seal the win.
- Freshman Morgan Layne led the Muskies with a two-run triple. She also scored two runs.
- Senior Rosie Hayes added an RBI.
- Senior Madelyn Thomas started the game, went 4.2 innings, and allowed three runs on five hits.
- Freshman Bethany Rodman tossed the final 2.1 innings of no-hit relief to garner the win.
- Wittenberg scored three runs on five hits and had five errors.
- Lilly James was handed the loss after allowing four runs on two hits in one inning of work.
- Caylee Roe led the Tigers at the plate with two RBIs.
Game Two
- Muskingum scored seven runs on 10 hits with one error.
- The Muskies took control with a six-run fifth inning, highlighted by sophomore Susie Blocher's two-run home run.
- Freshman Elizabeth Wauford had a two-run double.
- Sophomore Cara Taylor belted an RBI triple.
- Hayes and sophomore Sadie Smith each notched an RBI.
- Freshman Taryn Born fired a complete game and scattered seven hits, and allowed one run with four strikeouts.
- Kira von Ravensberg took the loss for the Tigers after going 4.1 innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits.
- Hanna Ecker had the lone RBI for Wittenberg.
