The Muskingum softball team split their away doubleheader against Wilmington on Saturday afternoon winning Game 1, 6-1, while falling in Game 2, 6-4.

Inside The Numbers - Game 1

• Junior Hannah Smith started the game and tossed 1.1 innings, allowing one run off three hits.
• Freshman Madelyn Thomas fired 5.2 innings of relief and notched seven strikeouts, allowing two hits for her first win of the season.
• Junior Haley Hawk guided the Muskie offense going 2-for-4 at the plate and tallied an RBI.
• Senior Riley Powers, junior Cristianna Boggs, sophomore Claire Warschauer each chipped in one RBI.
• Junior Katie Osburn added a double for Muskingum.
• Hayley Suchland pitched a complete game for Wilmington allowing six runs off five hits.

The Difference - Game 1

• Wilmington committed seven errors, which allowed the Muskies to plate five unearned runs.
• Wilmington took the early 1-0 lead in the second inning off a Kennedy Clifton double.
• The Muskies capitalized in the fourth inning taking advantage of three Wilmington errors.
• Muskingum would take a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning off a Riley Powers single to left center.
• The Muskies would tack on another run to extend their lead 3-1 going into the fifth.
• Muskingum extended their lead 4-1 on a Hawk single to right field.
• The Muskies final two runs of the game came in the sixth inning, giving them a commanding 6-1 lead.

Inside The Numbers - Game 2

• Senior Hannah Duff got the start for the Muskies, pitching 4.1 innings allowing five runs off eight hits.
• Thomas tossed 1.2 innings allowing one run off two hits.
• Powers led the Muskies offense going 3-for-4 at the plate and added two RBIs.
• Hawk finished the contest going 2-for-3 at the plate blasting a home run.
• Sophomore Carlee Lamacz added a hit and an RBI to the contest.
• Senior Francesca Stefano finished the game with three hits.
• Senior Karsyn Shaffer finished the contest with two hits which included a double.
• Alexis Stringfellow started in the circle for Wilmington pitching 6.2 innings and allowing four runs off 12 hits.

The Difference - Game 2

• Wilmington got an early 1-0 lead in the first inning off an Andrea Layne single to left field.
• Muskingum answered right back with a solo homerun from Hawk in the second inning.
• Muskingum took a 2-1 lead in the third off a Lamacz single.
• Wilmington used a three hit, four run inning to take a 5-2 lead in the fifth.
• Wilmington extended their lead 6-2 on a Hayley Suchland home run.
• The Muskies' comeback fell short in the seventh as they got two runs off a Powers' single and had the tying runs on base when the game ended.
• Muskingum finished the game with 12 hits.
