Softball splits doubleheader vs. 24th-ranked Baldwin Wallace
The Muskingum softball team split a doubleheader against 24th-ranked Baldwin Wallace on Saturday. The Muskies claimed the opener, 3-1 and fell 11-4 in game two.

GAME ONE
 
In the top of the third inning, the Yellow Jackets recorded one run on one hit to jump out to an early 1-0 lead. 
 
Senior Rachel Eberling retaliated with a home run to left field in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie up play 1-1. 
 
Sophomore Karsyn Shaffer scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the sixth inning to slide past Baldwin Wallace with a score of 2-1. Sophomore Francesco Stefano then scored on a Yellow Jacket error to clinch the 3-1 victory for the Muskies. 
 
Eberling guided the Muskies with one RBI and cranked one home run. Eberling secured her ninth victory of the season for the Muskies after pitching a complete-game four-hitter, with six strikeouts. 
 
Abbie Thompson directed the Yellow Jackets with one run scored. Nikki Camarati took the loss for Baldwin Wallace after tossing six innings, allowing three runs on three hits, with a game-high seven strikeouts. 
 
GAME TWO
 
In the top of the third inning, Baldwin Wallace notched three runs on six hits to secure a three-run edge on the Muskies (3-0). Senior Krissy Hughes scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the third inning to trim the deficit to 3-1.
 
Macy Leach expanded the Yellow Jacket lead with an RBI-single to center field in the top of the fourth inning. Mackenzie Milligan then blasted a three-run home run to widen the gap to 7-1. Freshman Hannah Miller scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the third inning to lessen the gap to 7-2.
 
Baldwin Wallace scored one run in the fifth inning and three runs in the seventh inning to extend the lead to 11-2. The Muskies answered back with two runs on one hit in the bottom of the seventh inning in an attempt to close the gap, but the Yellow Jackets could not be halted. 
 
Sophomore Riley Powers went 2-for-3 at the plate and guided the Muskies with one RBI, while Miller went 2-for-3 at the plate and tallied one double. Sophomore Jaelyn Meade chipped in one RBI. Sophomore Hannah Duff took the loss for the Muskies after pitching 2.1 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits. 
 
Milligan led the Yellow Jackets with three RBIs and cranked one home run. Leach and Alexis Boledovic amassed two RBIs each. Abby Cosart secured her ninth victory of the season for Baldwin Wallace after pitching six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits.

The Muskies next travel to Marietta, Ohio to battle the Marietta College Pioneers on Tuesday, April 16. Game one of the doubleheader is slated for 3:00 p.m.
