The Muskingum softball team dominated at the D9 Sunkissed Games in Plant City, Florida. The Muskies defeated Penn St.-Behrend, 9-3, and went on to beat St. John Fisher, 6-3 on Saturday to secure an impressive overall record of 10-2.
In the Penn St.-Behrend game, the Muskies scored nine runs on 12 hits. Sophomore Riley Powers went 4-for-4 at the plate, leading the Muskies with four RBIs and two doubles. Freshman Haley Hawk notched three RBIs and secured one double. Sophomore Jaelyn Meade added two RBIs and tallied one home run. Freshman Hannah Miller secured one double. Senior Krissy Hughes locked in a team-best five putouts. Freshman Hannah Smith earned the win in the circle for the Muskies, pitching three innings and securing two strikeouts. Sophomore Hannah Duff recorded a save, tossing four innings and allowing one run.
In the St. John Fisher game, the Muskies scored six runs on 11 hits. Hughes went 3-for-3 at the plate, guiding the Muskies with three RBIs and two home runs. Hawk added two RBIs and secured one double. Sophomore Karsyn Shaffer tallied one RBI and notched one double. Hughes led the team with two stolen bases. Senior Rachel Eberling secured the win for the Muskies, pitching a complete game six-hitter, with two strikeouts.

The Muskingum softball win streak continued on Friday at the D9 Sunkissed Games in Plant City, Florida. The Muskies beat Saint Joseph's College, 12-9, and claimed a thrilling 3-2 victory over WPI in eight innings.
In the Saint Joseph's College game, Muskingum scored 12 runs on 16 hits. Sophomore Karsyn Shaffer went 3-for-3 at the plate and guided the Muskies with two RBIs. Sophomore Jaelyn Meade tallied one RBI and registered one triple. Senior Krissy Hughes, freshman Katie Osburn, sophomore Riley Powers, freshman Hannah Miller, freshman Haley Hawk, and sophomore Francesca Stefano added one RBI each. Hughes led the team with two stolen bases. Freshman Hannah Smith earned the win in the circle for the Muskies, pitching six innings and securing five strikeouts. Freshman Kassidy Reidenbach closed out the game for the Muskies, tossing one inning and allowing four runs.
In the WPI game, the Muskies scored three runs on eight hits. Senior Rachel Eberling went 2-for-4 at the plate and secured the game-winning RBI off of a double to right center. Hughes and Hawk added one RBI each. Meade registered one double and tallied one triple. Eberling locked in the win for the Muskies, pitching a complete game five-hitter, with three strikeouts.

The Muskingum softball team swept on Thursday at the D9 Sunkissed Games in Plant City, Florida. The Muskies defeated the Bluffton Beavers, 7-6 in nine innings, and went on to conquer the Emerson Lions, 9-0 in five innings.
In the Bluffton game, the Muskies scored seven runs on 11 hits. Freshman Haley Hawk went 2-for-2 at the plate, leading the Muskies with one home run and two RBIs. Sophomore Alexia Dowdle secured one double off of three hits and recorded one RBI. Senior Kylie Zifer chipped in one RBI. The senior tandem of Krissy Hughes and Rachel Eberling tallied two stolen bases each. Sophomore Riley Powers contributed one stolen base. Freshman Hannah Smith registered her first collegiate victory in the circle for the Muskies, pitching a total of 4.1 innings and recording a career-high seven strikeouts. Sophomore Hannah Duff saw action in two innings, securing three strikeouts and allowing two runs. Freshman Kassidy Reidenbach tossed a total of 2.2 innings, logging two strikeouts and allowing three runs.
In the Emerson game, the Muskies scored nine runs on 16 hits. Sophomore Jaelyn Meade guided the Muskies with two homeruns on two hits and notched a team-best three RBIs. Eberling tallied two RBIs and secured one double. Hawk and junior Kasey Rininger each chipped in one double. In the Aurora game, the Muskies scored six runs on 11 hits. Sophomore Riley Powers went 2-for-2 at the plate and led the Muskies with two RBIs and secured one double. Freshman Hayley Hawk added two RBIs. Senior Krissy Hughes, senior Rachel Eberling, and junior Kasey Rininger secured one double each. Senior Kylie Zifer anchored the Muskie defense with a team-best eight putouts. Eberling earned the win for the Muskies after tossing all seven innings and recording three strikeouts.

Sunday, March 3 -The Muskingum University softball team started their 2019 season with back-to-back victories against St. John Fisher and Illinois College at the annual D9 Sunkissed Games this afternoon. The Muskies won their season opener against St. John Fisher, 5-0, and dominated against Illinois College, 7-0.
In the season opener, Muskingum scored five runs on eight hits. Senior Rachel Eberling led the Muskies with a home run and secured two RBIs.
