Maiorano's dramatic walk-off home run beats #24 Heidelberg

Sophomore Melissa Maiorano hit a dramatic two-out home run in the bottom of the seventh to lift Muskingum to an electrifying 2-1 win against 24th-ranked Heidelberg on Thursday afternoon at Donna J. Newberry Field. The game two victory gave the Muskies a split against the Student Princes. Heidelberg won the opener, 8-6.

Game 2

  • Maiorano's long ball was her second of the season and the third hit of the game for the Muskies.

Game 1

  • Heidelberg scored three runs in the top of the first and led throughout the game to notch the Ohio Athletic Conference win.
  • The Muskies trimmed their deficit to one twice and had the game-tying run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh when the game ended.
  • Junior Jessica Matthews had three RBIs for the Muskies, which included hitting a two-run double.
