The Muskingum softball team was swept during its home opener on Tuesday by Denison. The Big Red won game one, 4-3, and took game two, 6-2.
The Basics
- The Records: Muskingum (7-9 overall), Denison (6-6)
- Location: New Concord, Ohio - Donna Newberry Field
- Weather: 50 degrees and sunny
Game One
- Denison scored two runs on the top of the seventh to rally past Muskingum.
- The Muskies scored all their runs in the fourth inning. Sophomore Amy Clark hit a two-run home run and junior Jessica Matthews smacked an RBI single. The long ball was the third of the season for Clark.
- Muskingum ended the game with three runs on five hits.
- Freshman Rachel Eberling (3-2) took the loss after going 6.1 innings and allowing four runs on nine hits.
- Kerry Hager led Denison going 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
- Lauren Secaras went 3-for-3 with one RBI.
- Denison scored four runs on 11 hits.
- Sarah Harold earned the win after throwing a complete game and allowing three runs on five hits.
Game Two
- Denison scored six unanswered runs to erase a 2-0 deficit. The Big Red used a four-run sixth to take control of the game.
- Freshman Cassie Thomas led the Muskies going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
- Sophomore Amy Clark added an RBI single.
- The Muskies led 2-0 after two innings. Muskingum scored a run in the first and second innings.
- Muskingum scored two runs on six hits.
- Senior Sarah Browning was handed the loss after going 5.2 innings and allowing five runs on nine hits.
- Maddie Crull and Mckinly Vazquez led the Big Red with two RBIs each.
- Denison scored six runs on 12 hits.
- Lauren Secaras notched the complete-game win. She scattered six hits and allowed two runs.

- Muskingum next hosts Otterbein on Friday, March 25. The Ohio Athletic Conference opener for both teams is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Donna Newberry Field.
