Men’s Soccer drops physical battle with Franciscan

The Muskingum men's soccer team dropped a physical battle to Franciscan on Tuesday evening, 1-0.

The Basics

  • Records: Muskingum (0-3), Franciscan (2-0-1)

 How it Happened

  • A through ball from Zachary Muldoon, found Augustine Rubino striking the game's only goal in the 33rd minute. 

 Inside the Numbers

  • Franciscan ended the outing with an 18-7 edge in shots, while Muskingum ended with a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Junior Mahfuz Yakubu led the Muskie attack with three shots.
  • Junior Abdikani Mohamed, senior Edwin Palou, freshman Filip Milic, and freshman Nolan Haislop each added one shot apiece to pace the Muskingum offense.
  • Freshman Caden Groff secured a career-high nine saves in 90 minutes of work between the pipes for the Muskies.
  • Mautone played the entire game in goal for the Barons and made two saves.
  • Rubino led the Baron offense with a goal.

Muskingum travels to Franciscan on Friday, Sept. 9, when they take on Pitt.-Bradford. Kick-off is set for 6:00 PM.
