The Muskingum men's soccer team fell to Transylvania, 2-1 on Saturday evening at North Athletic Turf Field.

  • The Muskies were led by junior Edwin Palou who tallied three shots and one goal.
  • Sophomore Michael Castaneda registered three shots for the Muskies.
  • Senior Ryan Peck, and sophomore Nicholas Hubbard finished the match with two shots each. 
  • Freshman Zach Marchesano grabbed seven saves in 90 minutes of work.
  • Jake Renneker and Jak Birdsong guided the Pioneers with one goal each.

How it happened

  • In the 33rd minute, the Pioneers found the scoreboard via a goal by Jake Renneker with the assist going to Max Nusbacher.
  • Rennecker's goal would be the only offense in the opening half as Transylvania took a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
  • The Muskies evened the score in the 66th minute from a goal by Palou.
  • With 25 seconds remaining in the game, a Muskie foul in the box would set up a made PK from Jak Birdsong, capping a Pioneer, 2-1 victory.
