Men's Soccer second-half comeback falls short at Heidelberg

Junior Trent Newby's second-half goal fell short on Saturday as men's soccer lost to Heidelberg 2-1 in its Ohio Athletic Conference opener at the Hidden Valley Soccer Complex.

  • Heidelberg took the early 1-0 lead in the 8th minute as Alexis Mendoza scored off a cross from Kyle Diaz.
  • Junior Trent Newby would deliver the equalizer in the 81st minute as he fired a shot from the upper 90 that beat the goalkeeper.
  • Porus Shroff would score the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute as he netted a free-kick following a Muskie miscue.
  • Newby and sophomore Barrett Fitzgerald led the way for Muskingum with two shots each.
  • Muskingum finished the contest with six shots and two on goal.
  • Heidelberg took seven corner kicks in the contest and fired off 20 shots.

Between the Pipes

  • Sophomore Gabriel Kral got the start in frame playing all 90 minutes for the Muskies. He finished the contest with five saves.
  • Jake Kress collected his third win of the season making one save.

  • Muskingum returns to action Wednesday, October 5 at OAC rival Marietta. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
