Men's soccer stays hot with second straight shutout

The Muskingum men's soccer team posted its second consecutive shutout following a 2-0 blanking of Wooster on Wednesday afternoon at Muskie Field.

How It Happened

  • Muskie sophomore Trent Newby gave Muskingum an early 1-0 lead in the sixth minute on a shot from the top of box to the far post. The strike was Newby's second straight game-winning goal.
  • Muskie freshman Chase Michael Hilliard scored his first career goal in the 82nd minute. He ended the outing with four shots, including three on frame.
  • Muskingum senior Brett Hanna registered his first assist of the season on Hillard's goal. Hanna ended the game with three shots.
  • Muskingum ended the contest with a 17-14 edge in shots, while Wooster held a 5-4 nod in corner kicks.
  • Austin Russell led the Scots with three shots. Lucas Hunt and Marco Sapien each had two shots.
  • The win marked Muskingum's second straight shutout and extended the Muskies' winning streak to two games.

  • Freshman Colin Federer recorded his first career shutout by making four saves in 90 minutes of work in frame.
  • Scot Stacho started for Wooster and made five saves and allowed two goals in 90 minutes.
