Men's Golf sets sights on strong spring season

The Muskingum men's golf team, under the leadership of head coach Joe Puch, are locked in and ready for a strong outing in the 2020 spring season. The Muskies return all their players from the fall season including junior Brenton Franks, senior Thomas Green, junior Preston Yeater, freshman Chase Karling, and freshman Lucas Huston.

Franks led the Muskies last fall competing in all five tournaments averaging a score of 75.18 and a plus 3.41 versus par. His top performance in the fall was when he finished in first-place, out of a 32-golfer field, shooting a combined 109 in the John Carroll University River Greens Invitational. Franks also finished the fall season tying for sixth-place, out of a 53-golfer field, in the Ohio Athletic Conference Preview shooting a combined 150 score.

Green last fall played in all five tournaments and averaged a score of 79.18, while earning a plus 7.41 versus par. Green's best finish last season was finishing tied for ninth-place, out of a 32-golfer field, shooting a combined score of 117 at the John Carroll University River Greens Invitational. 

Yeater ended last season averaging a 82.00 score playing in four tournaments. Karling competed in all five tournaments in the fall and averaged a 82.82 score, while Huston played in four tournaments and averaged a score of 84.77 last fall.

Also returning in the spring and looking to make an impact on the links are junior Matthew Shumar, freshman Jonah Hanes, and freshman Jack Williams. Joining the Muskies this spring are sophomore Kyle Smith, junior Caleb Barnette, and freshman Mason Liburdi.

The Muskies get the spring season under way when they take on Ohio Northern on Wednesday, March 4 at the Orange Lake Golf Course in Orlando, Fla. Tee time is set to begin at 7:00 a.m.
