Men's golf opens season with eighth-place finish

The Muskingum men's golf team opened its 2015-16 campaign with an eighth-place finish at the Allegheny Guy W. Kuhn Memorial Invitational on Sunday-Monday.

The Basics

  • Muskingum shot a two-day total of 636 (309-327).
  • The invitational was played at the Country Club of Meadville in Pennsylvania.
  • The course was a par 72 and 6809 yards long.
  • Allegheny College hosted the event.

On The Course

  • Sophomore Jacob Van Leeuwen led the Muskies with a 153 (76-77) to finish tied for 10th in the 58-golfer field. He ended the two-day event with six birdies.
  • Freshman Andy Cornell finished tied for 24th in his collegiate debut with a 158 (77-81). He recorded four birdies.
  • Junior Luke Janci finished 37th with a 162 (78-84). He logged three birdies at the invitational.
  • Junior Erik Allbright finished tied for 38th with a 163 (78-85).
  • Freshman Josh Faulkner opened his college debut a 166 (81-85) to finish tied for 44th. Faulkner was one of only three players in the field to record an eagle on the par-5, 618-yard 12th hole.
  • Sophomore Logan Hall rounded out the Muskie scoring with a 168 (86-82). 
  • Allegheny won the team title with a 587 (300-287).
  • Jimmy Lasher of Allegheny won medalist honors with a 141 (72-69).
