Men’s Basketball drops nail-biter vs. Capital

Despite leading for much of the game, the Muskingum men's basketball team was unable to hold on down the stretch versus Capital. The Muskies fell 64-63 in the final seconds of the contest to the Comets.

  • The contest was promoted as the Faculty/Staff Appreciation Game by Muskingum's Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Muskingum faculty and staff members in attendance were honored on the court for the positive impact they have on Muskingum's student-athletes.
  • Officials for the contest were also honored as part of the NCAA Winter Officials Appreciation Week.

Inside the Numbers

  • The Muskies were led by freshman Logan Stotzer who finished with 13 points and three rebounds.
  • Senior Noah Begue knocked down three triples and tallied 11 points for the Muskies, while freshman Duane Davis nearly put up a triple-double with eight points, nine rebounds, and eight assists.
  • Junior Luken Hill finished with six points and five rebounds, while sophomore Zaveon Croff added six points and two steals off the bench for Muskingum.
  • Freshman Kaelan Pulliam chipped in five points and four assists for the Muskies, and sophomore Ethan Taylor added five points.
  • Capital was led by Justin Nixon with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Nate Gerber finished with 12 points and four rebounds.
  • As a team, the Muskies finished 23-for-53 (43.4%) from the field, while the Comets went 22-for-55 (40%) from the floor.
  • Muskingum shot 8-for-20 (40%) from three-point range, while Capital drilled 9-of-25 (36%) from downtown.
  • Capital finished with a slim 34-33 edge in rebounds over the Muskies. However, Muskingum held an 11-6 edge in fastbreak points.
  • Muskingum finished with 14 assists, compared to 12 for the Comets; and the Muskies also finished with a 21-11 advantage in points off turnovers.
  • Muskingum's largest lead in the contest was 13, while Capital's largest lead was three.
