Men’s Basketball falls at #3 Marietta

The Muskingum men's basketball team dropped a road OAC contest to #3 Marietta, 84-64.

The Basics

  • Records: Muskingum (5-15 Overall, 2-11 OAC), Marietta (17-2 Overall, 12-0 OAC)
  • Location: Ban Johnson Arena – Marietta, Ohio

How it Happened

  • After both teams struggled to find an offensive groove early on, it was Marietta who grabbed a 16-9 lead with 14 minutes left in the first half.
  • After falling behind 21-10, the Muskies then strung together a 12-4 run to cut the Pioneer lead to 25-22.
  • Using a 7-0 run to close out the half, Marietta carried a 34-25 lead into the half.
  • Out of the break, Marietta used an 13-4 run to open up a 47-31 lead with just under 16 minutes remaining.
  • Marietta would maintain their lead for the rest of the second-half and secure their 84-64 lead.

Inside the Numbers

  • The Muskies were led by senior Alex Masinelli who registered 22 points and five rebounds.
  • Freshman Zaveon Croff tallied a career-high 12 points while also snatching four steals.
  • Freshman DJ Donnell also got into double-figures for Muskingum with 10 points.
  • Marietta was led by Tim Kreeger with 20 points.
  • On the night, Muskingum shot 25-of-64 (39.1%) from the field, while Marietta went 31-of-74 (41.9%).
  • Marietta outrebounded Muskingum 55-32 en route to a 29-12 edge on second chance points.
