The Muskingum men's basketball team used a second half surge to secure a 75-72 win over Capital.

How it Happened

  • After trailing 40-32 at halftime, the Muskies erupted on a 10-2 run to start the second half and tie the game at 42.
  • Capital would build their lead back to eight with 12:00 left in the game, however the Muskies would use a 15-7 run to tie the game again at 62 apiece.
  • The Muskies would grab a 67-65 advantage, their first lead of the night, with 2:55 remaining.
  • Aided by clutch free throws and shot making down the stretch, the Muskies held onto their lead for the remainder of the game and secured the 75-72 win.
  • In total, the Muskies outscored Capital 43-32 in the second half en route to their victory.

Inside the Numbers

  • The Muskies were led by senior Noah Tomlinson who poured in a career-high 22 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field.
  • Along with Tomlinson, senior Alex Masinelli also scored 22 points to go along with his eight team-high rebounds and four assists.
  • Senior Carson Carter chipped in nine points for Muskingum while also adding five rebounds.
  • Capital was led by David Sanford who notched 20 points.
  • On the night, Muskingum shot 26-of-52 (50%) from the field, while the Comets went 26-of-62 (41.9%). 
  • The Muskies shot 7-of-15 (46.7%) from behind the arc, while Capital went 8-of-24 (33.3%).
