The Muskingum men's basketball team dropped a home OAC matchup to #22 Heidelberg, 96-76.
The Basics

How it Happened
- Out of the gate, Muskingum grabbed a quick 12-2 lead over the Student Princes.
- Muskingum would continue their hot shooting and build a 21-10 lead with 15 minutes remaining in the first half.
- However, Heidelberg would slowly chip away at the Muskie lead and eventually tie the game at 26 apiece with eight minutes left until halftime.
- Both teams would trade buckets the remainder of the first half, and the Student Princes would carry a slim 50-49 lead into the break.
- Out of the break, both teams would continue their close play, with the score tied at 55 apiece with 15 minutes remaining.
- However, Heidelberg would get the hot hand and go on a 16-3 run to push their lead to 13.
- The Muskies would cut the Heidelberg lead down to 10, but could never draw closer as the Student Princes cruised to their 96-76 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- The Muskies were led by senior Alex Masinelli who registered a team-high 19 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.
- Senior MJ Smith buried four triples en route to 14 points, and he also grabbed four rebounds as well.
- Senior Noah Tomlinson registered nine points and six rebounds for the Muskies, while junior Tanner Gensler chipped in eight points.
- Heidelberg was led by Tre Watkins who tallied 24 points for the Student Princes.
- Muskingum finished the game 29-of-68 (42.6%) from the field, while Heidelberg shot 36-of-70 (51.4%).
- The Muskies went 9-of-23 (39.1%) from deep, while the Student Princes hit 16-of-29 (55.2%) from behind the arc.
- Muskingum outrebounded Heidelberg 40-37, and Heidelberg tallied 21 assists on the game compared to 14 for Muskingum.
- Heidelberg tallied 26 points off turnovers, while the Muskies only registered four.
