The Muskingum men's basketball team dropped a road OAC matchup with Capital, 86-68.

How it Happened

  • After both teams played to a 14-14 draw in the opening seven minutes, Capital used a 7-0 run to open a 21-14 lead midway through the first half.
  • However, the Muskies would battle back with an 8-0 run of their own to take a slim 22-21 lead.
  • Both teams would play back-and-forth basketball for the remainder of the first half, with Capital carrying a slim 36-35 lead into the break.
  • The first five minutes of the second half saw Capital use an 18-4 run to open a 15-point advantage.
  • Muskingum would trim the Comet lead down to 11 with 12 minutes remaining, but Capital would settle in and keep their double-digit lead for the remainder of the contest.

  • The Muskies were led by the senior duo of MJ Smith and Alex Masinelli, who both registered 14 points. Masinelli also recorded a game-high tying nine assists and a team-high tying five rebounds.
  • Senior Noah Tomlinson tallied 13 points for Muskingum, while also snagging a team-high tying five rebounds.
  • Sophomore Bradley Russell notched seven points for the Muskies, while senior Carson Carter and junior Tanner Gensler each added six points.
