Masinelli’s Career Day leads Muskies past Adrian

Senior Alex Masinelli tallied a career-high 32 points to lead the Muskingum men's basketball team past Adrian 93-79 on Sunday afternoon.

The Basics
• Records: Muskingum (2-2), Adrian (1-4)

The Difference
• Out of the gate, it was Muskingum grabbing a quick 17-8 lead behind three triples from junior Noah Begue, and eight quick points from senior Alex Masinelli.
• However, Adrian would proceed to go on a 14-4 run and grab a 22-21 lead with nine minutes remaining in half one.
• Adrian would build their largest lead of the game (4) with just under eight minutes left in the half, but Muskingum would storm back with a 17-6 run of their own to grab the late first-half lead behind clutch mid-range shooting from Masinelli.
• Adrian would proceed to answer with a small 7-1 run to close the half and trim the Muskie lead to just one heading into the break.
• Muskingum would open the second-half with a quick 8-1 run to snag an eight-point lead early.
• Adrian would trim the gap down to four points midway through the half, but the hot hands of Masinelli and Begue were too much for the Bulldogs, as the Muskies cruised to the 93-79 victory.

Inside the Numbers
• The Muskies were led by senior Alex Masinelli who totaled a career-high 32 points on 14-of-21 (66.7%) shooting from the field. Masinelli also registered a season-high 12 rebounds to lead the Muskies.
• Junior Noah Begue notched a season-high 19 points on 6-of-7 (85.7%) shooting from the three-point line, while senior Noah Tomlinson also got into double figures with 10 points.
• Senior MJ Smith and junior Tanner Gensler each tallied eight points for Muskingum. Gensler also tallied a season-high 12 rebounds, and a team-high five assists on the afternoon.
• Adrian was led by De'Ovion Price with 24 points, and Phariz Watkins with 18 points.
• Muskingum ended the afternoon shooting 39-of-75 (52%) from the field, compared to 31-73 (42.5%) for Adrian.
• Muskingum shot the ball at an 8-of-19 (42.1%) clip from deep, while Adrian shot 10-of-34 (29.4%) from the three-point line.
• Muskingum dominated the paint, outrebounding Adrian 50-33 on the day.
