Men's Basketball looks to build on shortened 2020-21 season

Under the direction of seventh-year head coach Travis Schwab, the Muskingum men's basketball team will look to build on the solid season put together during last year's shortened 2020-21 campaign.

Returning to the men's basketball program will be seven letterwinners from last season – senior guard Alex Masinelli, senior guard MJ Smith, junior guard Noah Begue, junior forward Tanner Gensler, sophomore forward Evan Boatwright, sophomore forward Bradley Russell, and senior forward Carson Carter.

Masinelli played in all 14 games for the Muskies last season, averaging 14.6 points per game. He also registered 6 rebounds per game and 3.1 assists per contest.

Smith also played in all 14 games for Muskingum, tallying a team-high 15.3 points per game, and also registered a team-high 47.8% mark from three.

Begue returns for his junior season after tallying 4.6 points per game last season. Begue registered a 40% three-point-percentage last season, and also grabbed just under two rebounds per contest.

Gensler returns to the Muskies after averaging a career-high 6.9 points per game last year. Gensler tallied 3.4 rebounds per contest, and also showed his versatility dishing out 2.1 assists per game.

Boatwright begins his second season with Muskingum after making significant impacts on the team in his first campaign. Averaging 6.5 points per game on 56.6% shooting from the field, Boatwright looks to make big leaps for the Muskies this winter.

After averaging 2.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, Russell looks to be a presence on the inside for the Muskies this season.

Carter looks to build on the solid season he turned in last year. Averaging 7.7 points per game, and 3.3 rebounds per contest, Carter will play a big role in the paint for Muskingum this season.

The Muskies tip off their season this Saturday, November 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Anne C. Steele Center against Kenyon. Muskingum will begin conference play on Saturday, December 4 when they host John Carroll at 4:00 p.m. All home games will feature live video and live stats on the Muskie Sports Network and can be accessed on fightingmuskies.com and/or the OAC TV app.
