#WinsDay celebrating Muskingum's big win's throughout the 2019-20 year

#WinsDay features the Muskingum men's basketball team's big victory over Ohio Athletic Conference foe John Carroll on Saturday, December 14 at the Anne C. Steele Center. The Muskies shot a combined 30-of-64 (.484) from the floor and 12-of-25 (.480) from the three-point line en route to an 85-79 win. 

During the first half, the Muskies were down 36-25 with 5:49 remaining before halftime. The Muskies used a late charge over the final five minutes to trim their gap to 43-42 entering the break.

It was back-and-forth throughout the second half until Dempsey lit a spark for the team after a huge dunk to give the Muskies a 73-67 lead with less than six minutes remaining in the game. Several minutes later, Dempsey again ignited the Muskies with an ESPN highlight reel three-point basket that he was fouled on as the shot clock expired. Following the four-point play, Muskingum took control of the contest with an 82-73 lead en route to the big home OAC win.

Junior Marcus Dempsey scored a game-high 38 points off 12-of-22 shooting from the field, 6-of-10 from behind the arc, and 8-of-8 from the free-throw line. He also added five rebounds and six assists. Sophomore Trey Singleton added 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting and dished out three assists, while junior Tyler Bardall chipped in nine points going 3-of-6 from the three-point line. Muskingum only committed seven turnovers during the game with the Blue Streaks committing 17 on the day. The Muskies also went 13-of-18 (.722) from the charity stripe in the contest.

Notables

  • Dempsey earned OAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for his outstanding play during that week.
  • The win was the second straight for the Muskies and ended up being part of a five-game winning streak.
